Hello. Great to have you here.
We're reconnecting the rainforest.
In Cimitarra, Colombia, we plant native trees between patches of forest. They grow into wildlife corridors, so the brown spider monkey, the blue-billed curassow, and the jaguar can move between forests again. Together with the people who live here.
550 ha protected · 20,000 trees planted · 8 km of corridors by end of 2026 · 183 bird species
Tax-exempt in Switzerland. The board works as volunteers.

Our mission.
We preserve the tropical rainforest and biodiversity in Cimitarra through the protection of the Nature Reserve. The local community acts as co-designers. In a pilot school, 15 to 20 children grow a vegetable garden. They learn to look after it, eat what they harvest, and their teachers share tips that the children take home to their families. Agroforestry and ecotourism are economic alternatives managed by the community itself.

How do we do it?
We protect a total of 550 hectares, of which about 300 hectares (roughly 420 football pitches) are intact tropical rainforest. Ecotourists are hosted and guided by locals.

Children and their parents help us care for the trees planted for the corridors: together we fertilise and weed.

In addition, 17 refurbished Swiss laptops have reached three rural schools: around 40 children take part in virtual classes from Switzerland. The on-site team is led by Alexander Giraldo.
Science and partners.
More than 90 scientists have visited the reserve. Biologists work on-site monitoring alongside the local team. Our partners are Fundación Primates, Wyss Foundation, and HR Campus AG. HR Campus AG currently supports us with laptops for the classes, with connecting the forest and with the school garden for the children.
Looking ahead.
In the medium and long term, we want to motivate more local landowners to reforest and protect biodiversity. In addition, we grow organic cacao plants, fruits, plantains, and native timber trees following recommendations for sustainable agriculture.
The animals in our logo.
Our logo shows three remarkable and endangered animals of the tropical rainforest: the Brown Spider Monkey, the Jaguar, and the Blue-billed Curassow. With these umbrella species, we protect numerous other species and the delicate balance of their natural habitat.

Protected animals and plants.
About 117 plant species and 183 bird species live in our rainforest. Colombia is the second most biodiverse country in the world. Reserva Natural Porvenir is located in the Magdalena plain, a region that has been largely deforested.
Here are some of the protected species found in our forest.
